Community, Parks and Recreation-style (by jamesmontalbano)
And once again, NBC’s most neglected show Community is going above and beyond the realm of deep awesomeness and is set to feature an anime sequence in tonight’s episode. I can barely even stand how exciting this sounds, but even more than that, I am just so deeply heartwarmed that this show and its showrunner Dan Harmon clearly don’t bow to the lowest common denominator and basically do whatever they think will be cool, funny, and unique. And as a result, the show grows a passionate fan base while simultaneously confounding NBC executives who don’t seem to know what to do with this glorious, glorious show. I’m sorry, what was I saying? Oh, right! The anime sequence! More about that after the jump!
I don’t even know where to start with this. Dan Harmon’s Community, which recently transformed Twitter in a seething cauldron of angst because it was inexplicably removed from NBC’s mid-season lineup (while Whitney, like a cockroach, somehow remained), has a special relationship with its audience. That relationship entails going against what network sitcoms are supposed to do and consistently raising the bar. The first time the writers treated us to a secret surprise was when Abed (Danny Pudi) was part of a stealth storyline in which he delivered a baby without so much as a mention in that episode. (The mention came a few episodes later.) And now, over the course of its three seasons, three Beetlejuice mentions that actually resulted in an appearance by the B-Man himself that you probably missed. Watch the window behind Annie (Alison Brie) after she makes the third mention after a quick mention of Inspector Spacetime. What are we thankful for? Things like this. Thank you, Dan Harmon and everyone involved with Community! (via Topless Robot)
Friends and Community writers. Great minds think alike.
I too thought of this Friends episode while watching Community last night.

Last night’s Community featured seven different timelines based on the roll of a die. They led you to believe that the final timeline was the real one, but I don’t believe this to be true. Here’s why.
- The episode begins with a brief argument about whether Troy and Abed live in…
